| Usenet offers people around the world a
fantastic wealth of free resources. It is a place where everyone
can offer their experience and knowledge to others and benefit
from others' knowledge and experience.
However, there are some people out there who are not so friendly towards other users and
may abuse their personal information (including name and email
address). This also applies to spammers, who use computer
programs to look for email addresses in posted Usenet articles
so they can send spam.
You should be aware that most newsreaders automatically
include your name, email address, and an optional signature
as a part of the articles you post. The newsreaders usually put
your name and e-mail address at the top of the articles, and
your signature file at the bottom
If your identity in Usenet is a concern to you, or you don't
want to give spammers a chance to send you unsolicited email,
you might consider using a pseudonym and a fake email address
when posting. If you disguise your e-mail address, the spammers
scanning for email addresses will not get a correct email
address for you and other unfriendly users will not be able to
take advantage of your personal information.
