Sometimes you may need to remove or delete the old
server or server address in order to allow correct use of new server(s).
Below, are instructions for most the popular newsreaders:
Agent
Deleting a previous server and adding a new one:
1. Click on "tools" from the menu at the top and select "servers and
accounts"
2. Select the desired server you wish to remove and click delete
3. To add a server click "new" from this same dialog box
4. When the create new server wizard pops up follow the steps on the screen adding the
correct information and clicking next when finished
5. On the last step you will be prompted to click "finish" and the news server
will be created
Clearing the cache and/or purging existing groups:
1. Select the group folder that you wish to delete from the left under the heading
"all desks"
2. Right click the folder and scroll down to purge folder
3. Click "purge folder" to empty the group
NewsBin Pro
Deleting a previous server and adding a new one:
1. Click on the servers button
2. Highlight the server you wish to remove and click delete server
3. The dialog box will pop up and ask you "really want to delete server" click
ok...
4. Click the new server button, when the dialog box pops up enter the desired server name
and click ok
5. Enter the remaining server details and then click ok and this should complete the
server set up...now test the connection
Clearing the cache and/or purging existing groups:
1. Click the groups tab from the top of the screen
2. Select the group to be purged and right click
3. Select "post storage" and when the sub menu pops out, click "delete
stored posts"
4. The dialog box will ask you for confirmation...click ok
Grabit
Deleting a previous server and adding a new one:
1. Select the server that you wish to remove from under the bone icon (My Grabit)
2. If this window is not displayed you can click the double arrows beside "subscribed
groups" at the top of the page
3. Right click the server and select "remove server" from the list
4. The dialog box will pop up and ask "are you sure you wish to remove the
group"...select yes
5. To add a server right click on "my grabit" and select add server
6. The server properties window will pop up and ask you to fill in the server and log in
information. Click Ok and the new server will be added
7. If for some reason the newly added server is not displayed you can double click on
"my grabit" to display it
Clearing the cache and/or purging existing groups:
-Purging a group is N/A (not applicable) in Grabit, simply deleting the old and adding a
new server should suffice in this situation.
NewsLeecher
Deleting a previous server and adding a new one:
1. Make sure NewsLeecher is not connected by clicking the connect button and making sure
the the connections say "offline"
2. Click the "manager" tab
3. Highlight the server you wish to remove and click delete
4. A dialog box will pop up and sate that you are about to delete one or more servers, are
you sure...click yes and the server will be removed
5. Now click the add button
6. The server set up window will pop up and ask you for the server details
7. Enter the proper server and login information and then click apply, then click ok
8. Make sure then newly added server has a check beside it in the check-box and then click
connect to test your connection.
Clearing the cache and/or purging existing groups:
1. Click the articles tab
2. On the far left there should be a list of subscribed groups, if there is not click the
blue double arrows to the far left of the screen at the top just up under the tabs
3. The arrows initially face to the right with no groups displayed and they will change to
face the left once clicked on and the groups become displayed
4. Highlight the groups that you wish to purge and then right click
5. Scroll down to where it says "Selected: Purge Group" and click it
6. The dialog box will pop up and ask if you still want to continue...click yes
7. If the group cannot be purged, chances are that the group is either active or has
nothing stored in the cache to be purged
Altbinz
Deleting a previous server and adding a new one:
1. First make sure that Altbiz is not connected, by clicking the "connect"
button at the top of the screen (If not connected, the lower window will be blank)
2. To remove the desired server click the "setup" button from the icons at the
top
3. Click on "servers" and highlight the correct server then click "delete
server"
4. To add a new server, from the same area, enter the proper server information and then
click "add as primary"
5. Click ok to close the dialog box
Clearing the cache and/or purging existing groups:
-Purging a group is N/A (not applicable) in Altbinz, simply deleting the old and adding a
new server should suffice in this situation.
Xnews
Deleting a previous server and adding a new one:
1. From the menu at the top, click "special", scroll down to the bottom, and
select "setup xnews"
2. From the servers tab, highlight the server you wish to remove and select
"delete"...when prompted select yes
3. From the same window, to add a server select "new"
4. The create new server profile box will pop up and ask you for a server name. Enter the
server address and click ok
5. Enter the server nickname and click ok
6. The new server will then be highlighted and the area where you will need to add user
name, password, etc. will be displayed to the right
7. Enter the remaining details and click ok
Clearing the cache and/or purging existing groups:
1. From the menu at the top, click "server" and select the correct server from
the drop down menu.
2. Select the desired group from the list of saved groups
3. Double click the group to see a list of all the articles currently in that group
4. From the menu at the top, click "group", scroll down to "discard
headers" and select "all" from the sub menu
Outlook Express
Deleting a previous server and adding a new one:
1. From the "folders" menu, scroll down to the server that you wish to remove.
2. If this window is not present you should be able to click the name of the server from
the gray area under the main group of icons and then click the push pin to keep the window
open
3. Highlight and right click the server and select "remove account"
4. The dialog box will pop up asking if you are sure...click yes
5. To add a new server, click "tools" from the main menu at the top of the
screen
6. Scroll down to and click on "accounts"
7. Click the "news" tab and click the "Add" button
8. When the internet connection wizard pops up follow the on screen directions to enter
the required information
9. Click "finish" and you should now see the new server in the "news"
tab window
Clearing the cache and/or purging existing groups:
Purging a group is N/A (not applicable) in Outlook Express, simply deleting the old and
adding a new server should suffice in this situation.
